from a more positive me...

well, i am still alive, and i apologise for staying away so long... My family went through a terrible couple of months, and i want the whole world to know that all is not well in South Africa. Crime is taking over our Country, and unfortunately, our Government does not care much, we are slowly but surely becoming another Zimbabwe. This is what happened...

Four days before Christmas, my Sister, her Husband and two youngest children were attacked and kidnapped from their home on the farm. Six armed men attacked them, robbed their home and took them to a very remote area, and left them there. Thank God, they did not kill them as they normally do in these circumstances. Their home is 300m from ours, we left that morning to spend Christmas with my Sister-in-law in Johannesburg.

My sister and her family survived, but the trauma continues. They absolutely live in fear, spend thousands on new security systems and fences, and refuse to leave their house after 5pm in the afternoons. These animals took more than just money, they robbed this family of their freedom to live!

There are, unfortunately, thousand of people in SA who experienced the same thing, my husband is one of them, he survived an armed robbery, so did my Sister-in-law's husband! If you are reading this, and you were also a victim of a vicious crime, please leave a comment and tell your story, it is time....

If i sound depressed, i am not! I love my Country, and i love being alive in this Country, and i believe in the mighty power of prayer, so please remember SA when you pray tonight!

I am sharing one of my newest hobbies with you, i love doing Mosaic, but as always, i just have to bring Scrapbooking into everything, so, the one cross is mosaic and the other is covered with photos! Enjoy, and let me know what you think...

Love from sunny South Africa

Karen, I thought you have left blogland permanently...welcome back. I am so sorry to hear about the trauma that your family faced. I realise that much more is going on in our country that is disclosed in the newspapers. Remember that your hope is in the Lord...keep your eyes firmly on Him, even in these circumstances.

Hugs

Wow, can't believe its 6 months since we last had you here with us in blog land. Belief in Him protects us from life's dangers ... and this is proof once again. So sorry to hear about your family's shocking experience. Thinking of you. Hugs from Desire
PS: Just love your mosaic cross and the scrapping on the back of it.

So sorry to hear about that Karin. I can relate...

My Dad went through an armed robbery at their resataurant at gunpoint, took loads of things and took his car...

Just glad they did not kill him...Thankful to GOD for that!

Wished things could improve...

hello karin :)
first of all... thank you for visiting me today and leaving such a lovely comment on my blog.

after reading your post, i am horrified by the ordeal that happened to your family. i'm so glad that everyone is alright but OMG... my heart goes to the kids! they must be terrified! i hope someone or the community does something about the crime that is happening. i have never been to SA ... my hubby has... to cape town and he told me it was beautiful and peaceful. i am actually horrified to learn that such crimes exist in your area... all i can say is pls take care and be careful.

i shall explore your blog further as i saw "scrapbooking" mentioned... :) God bless and we shall talk again sometime soon :)

Hi there Karin,

It's been a while! Sorry about your family and also sorry that it is unfortunately not an isolated incident. Hopefully the power of prayer will heal this amazing land. I am glad to hear your faith and love are so totally intact. Missed you, keep in touch.

On a lighter note, I must say that your mosaics are absolutely STUNNING! I'm glad that you've taken the time to express your creativity in spite of everything that's going on around you. Stay strong☺
